Polyester PET film material is commonly selected when production requires stable dimensions, mechanical strength and a controlled surface appearance. BOPET, or biaxially oriented polyester film, is stretched in machine and transverse directions. This supports tensile strength, flatness and reliable handling. Heat-stabilized grades suit processes where shrinkage or print registration need closer control.

When sourcing polyester PET film from China, it is useful to start with the actual converting route. Lightweight rollstock, medium-gauge film and thicker sheet grades behave differently. Web tension, treated side, finish, temperature and geometry all influence the final choice.

Protective Film China Company supplies master rolls, slit-to-width rolls and cut sheets. Standard, surface-treated and heat-stabilized grades are reviewed before repeat production. As a base PET film factory, we keep treated-side records and retained samples for repeat orders.

Selection Guide

Choose the grade by starting with the downstream process. Continuous web handling calls for stable tension, thickness uniformity and clean winding. Sheet parts need stiffness and flatness. Printing, coating and lamination require treated-side confirmation. When the process includes heat, shrinkage should be checked at the actual temperature and dwell time.

For PET film thickness inquiries, 12um is often evaluated for lightweight web processing and lamination. A 75um / 3 mil grade gives more body for slitting and sheeting. A 125um grade is more suitable for cut sheets and precision parts. Other gauges should be checked against equipment and handling requirements.

Benefits

  • PET / BOPET base-film coverage for thickness, finish and treatment selection.
  • Clear separation between lightweight rollstock, medium-gauge film and thicker sheet grades.
  • Grade-dependent checks for haze, light transmission, tensile strength and dimensional stability.
  • One-side or two-side corona treatment with treated-side and winding-direction records.
  • Master-roll, slit-roll and cut-sheet supply.
  • Practical controls for slit-roll quality, sheet supply and repeat production.

When Should Corona-Treated PET Film Be Rechecked Before Printing, Coating or Lamination?

Corona-treated PET film should be rechecked after extended storage, after a change in ink, coating or lamination system, or before an adhesion-sensitive run. Surface energy can fall over time because of storage conditions and surface migration. A dyne-level reading is a useful wetting-tension reference, but it is not a substitute for an adhesion trial. For critical runs, confirm the treated side and test the process before volume production.

Customization Options

As a polyester PET film manufacturer, Protective Film China Company confirms the film format before production. Available items include thickness, width, roll length, core size, winding direction, finish, haze, gloss, treated side and sheet size. Retained samples and treated-side records simplify repeat-order checks.

For slit rolls, inspect width tolerance, slit-edge cleanliness, roll flatness and winding quality. For sheets, check dimensions, flatness and interleaf requirements. For die-cut parts, review edge splitting, waste removal and tool condition. For laser-cut parts, evaluate the actual polyester PET film grade, thickness, finish, cutting edge and equipment settings.

Which PET Film Thickness Should Be Selected for Slitting, Sheet Supply, Die Cutting or Laser Cutting?

Thickness should follow the converting method. A 12um film is generally reviewed for controlled web processing, while 75um / 3 mil and 125um grades provide more body for slitting, sheeting and precision parts. Nominal thickness is only a starting point. Film grade, heat stability, finish, tool condition and part geometry should also be checked. Laser-cut projects need approval on the actual equipment.

FAQ

Are PET Film and BOPET Film the Same Material?

PET refers to the polyester material. BOPET refers to PET film stretched in machine and transverse directions to improve mechanical and dimensional performance.

What Information Is Needed for a PET Film Roll or Sheet Inquiry?

Confirm thickness, width, roll length or sheet size, appearance, treated side, core size, winding direction, converting route and tolerance requirements.

When Is Heat-Stabilized PET Film More Suitable Than Standard PET Film?

It is worth evaluating for elevated-temperature processing, tight print registration, printed electronics and membrane-switch conversion.

Can Clear, White, Matte and Glossy PET Film Be Supplied for Different Printing Requirements?

Yes. The suitable grade depends on opacity, haze, gloss, finish, ink system, coating process and treatment requirement.
